Clinic Craft

We have many, many shares on our page and ideas given to us by our members on events they would like to see us host on the server, but nothing prepared us for the amount of links we received for Clinic Craft. You all spoke, and we listened, and we bring you our own Clinic Craft building competition.

What Is This All About?

For those who haven’t heard of Clinic Craft, it’s a simple but brilliant idea brought to us in partnership with Save the Children: just build a clinic in Minecraft and raise awareness and money to help Save the Children build and equip a real clinic in a remote area of Liberia to help prevent deaths in children under one.

This is unfortunately where it gets a little confusing. Clinic Craft is a UK-based event, so when you’re looking at the website, the donate button will NOT work for any of my American friends.

However, after speaking with the organiser, we have been provided with a special link that, even though it goes to Save the Children, any money donated here will go into the Clinic Craft pot; just follow the link and don’t forget to change the slider at the top to change your donation into $USD.

Our event:

On the server, we couldn’t let the opportunity for an event slip by us, so with a little help, we have created a 48-hour build challenge for you all.

That’s right; Starting on Saturday the 30th of August at 2pm EST and finishing on the 31st we are going to give you 48 hours to build a clinic of your very own! You can either do this as a team or on your own. You will have a 20 x 30 block plot, and you can be as creative as you wish; you don’t have to follow the blueprint or any laws of physics. Just get creative and make sure it looks like a clinic at the end. Don’t forget to decorate the interior, too. There will be a supply shed filled with some basic materials, but you will also be allowed to bring your own resources in, too. All ages are welcome!

 

Prizes:

First prize is a little special. Clinic Craft itself is also holding a competition for the best clinic, and we want the First-place winner to be the official community entry in this. That’s right: we will be entering the winning build to represent us in this challenge. This winner will also receive a set of power tools which include the power pick axe and power shovel. On top of this already fabulous bunch of goodies the 1st place winner will get to choose either a zombie or skeleton horse to have at their home as well as a free turn on the toad hut.

2nd Place will receive a Power Pick axe and a free go on the toad hut.

 

3rd  Place get the Power Shovel and also a free go on the toad hut.

As this is a Mutiplatform event, if players from the PS3 or Xbox win we have some special (un-official) Minecraft goodies for you to win

 

What next?

So the challenge is over, and you may or may not have won. Clinic Craft is not just asking for money! They want you to raise awareness for the charity and is in need of this, so maybe you could share your build with your friends along with the link, post it on Twitter, or stick it on Reddit. You could even enter it into the Clinic Craft competition in your own name. We want you to spread the word and give this cause some attention!

We always says thanks to the admin team for putting together these events, and with this one, we did help but very little. My beautiful daughter Trixabella_z was moved incredibly by this project and took on nearly all the work herself, leaving only the finishing touches to the admin team. Skyblock Returns

Friday, August 22nd begins our group’s 3rd installment of the Skyblock Challenge!  The admin crew has built a new custom multi-player map just for the occasion and we’re excited to announce that we’ll be doing Skyblock 2.1 this go around. You can find more information about Skyblock and Skyblock 2.1 here. This server map is an adaptation created by the server admins. The concept and original Skyblock challenges/maps were thought up by Noobcrew.

What is Skyblock? Skyblock is a floating island survival map. On the server, your team will be assigned an island where you’ll be tasked with a list of goals to accomplish (with meager starting supplies) to win the challenge. As previously stated we’ll be using an adaption of  Skyblock 2.1 with additional goals to make the experience slightly more challenging.

Rules:

  • Teams can be 1-3 players.
  • Do not purposely jump off the island to regenerate your health.
  • Do not attempt to make a bridge to the Island Hub, neighboring islands, or map edge. Each individual island is roughly 2,000 minecraft blocks away from the other. If you are found attempting to bridge islands or the other two areas stated you will be disqualified and removed from the whitelist. This rule goes for Overworld and Netherworld islands.
  • Overworld island can extend up to 100 blocks out from the bedrock block marking the center in any of the 4 compass point directions. You are not restricted as far as height is concerned.
  • Netherworld islands can extend up to 40 blocks out from your nether portal in any of the 4 compass point directions.  You are not restricted as far as height is concerned.
  • If you somehow spawn on a neighbors island either jump off or use their cb to return to the Island Hub to access your island.

Notes:

  • Anvils and enchanting tables will not be provided for you this time around. You can purchase both, as well as a brewstand, at one of the Xp Shops for 50xp levels. KeepInventory is set to false so you will lose your xp when you die.
  • Two XP Item Shops have been set up to allow you access to materials you wouldn’t normally have access to during single player survival. One item, the brewstand, is required for you to meet certain challenge goals.
  • Instead of doing a pumpkin trade for dirt like we’ve done in the past you may purchase grass blocks from one of the two xp shops.  One shop specializes in animals. If you are having a hard time getting animals to spawn on your island (and with the way the map is set up you shouldn’t have issues getting them to spawn naturally if your island is set up to spawn them correctly) you now have the option to purchase animal spawn eggs for an xp cost.
  • If you fail to set up your cobblestone generator correctly and lose your lava you will be given only 1 replacement lava source.
  • If you fail to set up your nether portal correctly you will not get a second chance to do so.
  • If your tree fails to produce saplings the admins will not give you saplings. You may ask other challengers if they have any they’d like to donate to you. **Helpful tip** Natural leaf decay seems to increase your odds of receiving saplings. A little patience goes a long way.
  • If you lose the sand and cacti from your sand island the admins will not replace them. You may ask other challengers to donate sand/cacti should this happen. **Helpful tip** Approaching the sand island from below is the safest option.
  • If you lose the mushrooms from your nether island the admins will not replace them.  Again, you may ask other challengers for donations.
  • Your starting chest only has 2 items in it. As you progress to your sand island and nether islands you’ll “unlock” more chests with additional items.
  • If for any reason you lose your snow blocks they will not be replaced by the admins. You may ask other challengers for donations.

  • Build a house ~ Housing Requirements~ Your home must have a living room, kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom. Homes must be furnished.
  • A well or troth (to house your infinite water source)

**NOTE: To keep the playing field level for all participants, Super Powers obtained from the Toad Hut must be deactivated during this event. All participants must be in survival mode, with no flight or high jump abilities.

(The Grand Prize will be rewarded to the first person to reach the top.  If no one reaches the top, the Grand Prize will be awarded to the person who climbs the highest. Winning the Grand Prize excludes you from the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes.)

Skyblock: Round 2

The Some Awesome Minecraft group is hosting a SkyBlock Challenge for the members of our server. We’ve made a custom multiplayer SkyBlock map so every team will have their own island to work on. The challenge will take place Jan 6th through Jan 20th.

What is SkyBlock?
SkyBlock is a floating island survival map created by Noobcrew. You’ll start off with the most basic supplies and must find a way to survive and complete all the challenges possible (and they are possible). We will be using the 1.0 version for this challenge with some additional goals made possible with the updates made since the map was created.

Rules:
Teams can be 1-3 players (each person on their team will have a personalized command block directing them to their SkyBlock)
Note: some achievements must be met per each player on your team. Example: 3 team members means 3 beds, full set of tools for each player otherwise only one person on the team wins the prize. The team may choose whom.
Do not purposely jump off the island to regenerate your health.
Do not make a bridge to the mainland or to neighboring islands (bridging to a neighbor’s island is grounds for disqualification).

If you somehow appear on another players island, jump off their island to go back to spawn.
Do not build more than 45 blocks from your own island (to avoid crossing into a neighbor’s territory)
There are anvils and an enchanting table with bookcases available at spawn for community use.  Do not remove any of these from spawn. Doing so will result in disqualification.

To ensure that everyone receives the same amount of materials to begin the challenge with, instead of a pre-grown tree on each island there will be 6 logs and 1 sapling in each chest.
Players must be whitelisted and assigned to a Skyblock.

Note: Keep Inventory is enabled

Prizes:

1st Place: Steam games from the community gift library retail value of $30 to distributed among the team. Each member of the team receives one in game item of their choice.
2nd Place: Steam games from the community gift library retail value of $15 to distributed among the team. Each member of the team receives one in game item of their choice.
3rd Place: Steam games from the community gift library retail value of $10 to distributed among the team. Each member of the team receives one in game item of their choice.

The first to complete all the “Challenges” below (not including “Bonus Challenges”) and post their screen shot is the 1st place winner, and so on.

Note: armor counts as 4 separate items. However, enchantments are only limited to how many the item can hold.

Hints:
Lava + Water = Cobblestone.
Study cobblestone generators CAREFULLY! Don’t worry, almost everyone messes it up the first time. If you turn your lava into obsidian on your first try you may ask an admin to replace it. But just once.

Note: you must kill zombies in melee battle, mob grinders will not drop carrots, potatoes, or iron.

Expert:

Full set of gold armor 100% durability
Full set of chainmail armor 100% durability
Note: you must kill zombies and skeletons in melee battle to obtain armor drops.

Exchanges:
You may exchange a stack of 64 pumpkins for 5 dirt (trust me, dirt is rare, try not to drop any)
