It’s April already, and time for Easter! I know, I can’t believe it either. Between schooling-at-home and a total lack of routine I hardly know what day it is anymore.  Even though we’ve continued holidays on the server, I haven’t been posting about them on the site so let’s try to get back into a routine.

If you’ve never participated in an Egg hunt before let me explain how it works. Back when we started this event years ago, Minecraft didn’t have colored eggs, or even colored egg (head) blocks.  However, player head blocks were available so we hid those instead. Everyone seemed to enjoy their collection of player heads either for personal collections or for trading like Pokemon cards, the event has always been a fun success!

The admins have designated an area for the event and hidden the “eggs” all around the island for players to find. The command block will be open during our Monday night stream. In the meantime, the holiday area is open! Come visit the Easter Bunny and be sure to bring him carrots for trading (although there are some available).

And don’t forget to take your picture with the Easter Bunny! Post your screenshots in the group for our memory album!

On an additional note, we know everyone is going through so much lately. We hope all of our friends and neighbors are staying healthy and safe! We’re all in this together! If you’re having a hard time staying entertained with Minecraft, don’t forget to join our 7 Days to Die or Animal Crossing: New Horizons groups if you’re looking for new games to occupy your time.  They’ve been saving my sanity through all this isolation. Hopefully they’ll do the same for you!

Happy love day everyone! We’ve got such a wonderful group and family here among us, we just wanted to show you all how much we love you. Come visit our very special LOVE inspired holiday area, built by our beloved blackbird_cloud. Take a ride down our river of love, just watch out for Cupid’s arrows 😉

Visit our holiday villager for some holiday souvenirs (don’t forget your bottles of XP).

Take a moment to leave a love note for your special someone on our Dedication Wall.

Just our little way to show you how much we love and appreciate all of you! Thank you for all the years of support and encouragement. We love our Minecraft family!

It’s our last holidays of the season so let’s go out with a bang…or a boom…fireworks, let’s have lots of fireworks is what I mean (I’m tired)!

We’d like to wish a Happy Canada Day to our neighbors in the North on July 1st! Come visit the special holidays area to check out some of the Canadian sites, and pick up some souvenirs and your limited edition holiday map while you’re there! There will be fireworks displays throughout the day to celebrate.

For us in the States, come celebrate American’s Independence Day on July 4th with us, where we’ll basically be celebrating the exact same way we do for Canada Day so if you’re busy with family on one holiday or the other you won’t miss anything 🙂

Come visit Old Glory for some traditional American classics, and don’t forget your limited edition holiday map

And of course we will also host firework displays throughout the day for this one as well.

We hope everyone has a happy and safe holiday(s). Remember to practice firework safety!

Happy Easter Minecraft Family! Just wanted to announce that the holiday area is all decorated and ready for Easter.

Stop by and see EB, our holiday villager for some souvenirs and pick up your limited edition Easter 2018 map.

Don’t forget pictures with the Easter Bunny!

Then, join us on Saturday, March 31st for our annual Easter “egg” hunt! If you’re new to the server let me fill you in on this Minecraft twist to an old tradition. Since there weren’t any special egg blocks that could be used as Easter eggs, we decided to start hiding player heads. Since then decorative egg blocks have been introduced but we’ve always had such a great time with the head hunt, we’ve continued the hunt! So join our Facebook event for date and time details and we’ll see you then!

Happy Easter everyone!

This St Patricks Day on SAMC, we decided to give you a wee tour of some monuments from
West Cork, Ireland where our Admin GardenSavvy lives.

The first of the three monuments is Drombeg Stone Circle. It’s on the outskirts of Savvys
local town, Rosscarbery and is a heritage site dating back to the Bronze Age. 13 of the
original 17 stones still stand today and during winter and summer solstice the area becomes
gridlocked with locals and visitors visiting the circle, also called the Druids Altar. Nearby the
circle is the remains of two primitive huts and a cooking hearth. The circle was restored in
1957 and during that excavation, remains were found that dated back to roughly 1100 BC.

The next monument you can wander through is a remake of the Timoleague Friary which was
founded in 1240 and closed in 1631. It is a Franciscian Friary, one of the few with remains
still standing in Ireland. The grounds are an a mass of graves nearly overlapping each other
with stones dating back to the 1600s and as recently as 2004. There used to be an
underground passage to the waters edge to receive goods, and the entry for that passage is
visible while walking the grounds. The bell tower was added later to the building and still
stands.

The final monument for you to peak at is the Baltimore Beacon. While it’s lacking in wow
factor in the minecraft world, the beacon stands a top a steep cliff with a long drop to the sea
below with stunning views from the edge. It’s creation was ordered after the 1798 rebellion
by the British Government and is one of many beacons and lighthouses dotted along the
coastline as a warning system. It’s nicknamed Lots wife as it looks like a pillar of salt. It
looks over the entrance to the Baltimore harbour, a fishing town and the ferry point to some
of the outlying islands like Sherkin Island, and a whale watching site for Minke Whales and
dolphins.

In the holiday area you’ll find all three monuments, a wishing well for a wee Irish Blessing
and a small cottage with a villager with goodies for ye. Wishing you all a Happy Paddys
Day! Drink your Guinness responsibly <3 🙂
