I am not quite sure where the month of July went but with August upon us. Thank you to all that participated in our last MiniBuilders challange on NuNu.  Congrats to the winners, all that participated and all the judges who helped.  August’s challenge brings us to Main (ma.gmmc.me).  We have many MiniBuilders’ builds on this server and this challenge will be in MiniCity. MiniCity originated with last summer’s Sandbox Challenge.  Feel free to visit and check out the great work from last year.

2015-08-01_11.01.57

The car challenge will run from August 10-August 24th. Here are some rules you must follow:

  1. One vehicle plot in the garage per child
  2. Do not tamper with another mini builder’s vehicle, this will disqualify you.
  3. Do not explore past the Mini City’s area.
  4. All materials are not supplied and must be acquired. See note below for more information.
  5. Adults may visit the Mini Builder’s area but they are NOT allowed to help.

As a reminder since we have not had a build challenge on main for quite some time:

  1. We are using the Bank at Mini Builders. There is a CB to and from Mini Builders and Mini City for easy access.  If you do not have an assigned vault, you will be assigned one upon signing up below.
  2. All materials used for challenges will be acquired supplies. This means that all materials used for challenges must be obtained from mining, collecting or chosen from the Mini Builders’ Vault. As a reminder, you may not ask for the vault to be filled. Meaning, if someone was kind enough to drop off a chest of cobblestone to the Mini Builders vault, that is wonderful. But if that chest is empty, it is now time to visit the Mini Builders’ mine!
  3. Reminder there is  a Mini Builders’ garden, tree farm and animal farm at Mini Builders (not Mini City). This should help fill up those vaults and keep you well fed during the challenge.

So, you may be asking yourself, what do I do now? If you are a mini builder, take note of the following:

  1. Sign up for the Mini Builders’ Car Challenge below and you will be assigned a vault.
  2. Note that the Car Challenge starts on August 10. Do not build yet!
  3. Start gathering supplies for the car challenge.

If you are NOT a mini builder:

  1. Consider donating the supplies you acquired to the Mini City’s storage area, you will TP right into it.
  2. Invite your kids or your friends or your friends’ kids to join us for our car challenge. Send them to the server rules to get them set up and have their kids’ sign up below.

To access the Mini City’ area, take the Mini City’ CB from the community floor (basement). The MB’s CBs are located to the right. Follow the stop light banners until you have arrived at the garage.

What are the prizes for the car challenge?

1st Place: 3 enchanted books of their choosing plus a special set of diamond armor
2nd Place: 2 enchanted book books of their choosing plus a special set of iron armor
3rd Place: 1 enchanted book of their choosing plus a special set of gold armor
Every child will get a prize for participating!

Happy Minecrafting! As a reminder, please sign up with the mini builder’s IGN below, not the adult’s. This is a challenge for the children of the server and we will use the IGN as a sign up for the vault as well so it must be case sensitive. This is a fun challenge, not a speed challenge. The number one goal is to have fun and maybe make a new friend!

Welcome to Mini Builders!

Welcome to Mini Builders!

We have some exciting changes, as well as new build challenges planned.

For our newer server members, here is an introduction to Mini Builders:
We started off with a little section of the server where the kids were given their very first kids-only build challenge: building houses. We provided them with basic supplies and they crafted & built something *amazing!*

Mini Builders has grown so much from that first challenge. We now have a hotel, a Christmas build, farms, mines, a market, and a pier with boats. All of these were challenges presented to our server kids. They met & exceeded expectations with their ingenuity & creativity.

One thing we have found with a lot of our server kids is that they don’t always know how to craft things. With that in mind we built a Schoolhouse to show them how. Hogwarts & its crafting recipe classrooms have now replaced that original Schoolhouse. We have every crafting recipe hanging on the walls of those rooms, so the kids can learn how to craft anything, without having to open an internet browser.

The admin team & helpers have most recently added a couple fun builds for the kids:
“Funland”- an indoor “recreation” area,

Funland! Indoor archery, fishing, & boating!

and the “Mini-Games Globe” for hide & seek or role-playing.
(you may have heard an admin or 2 join in the hide & seek fun)

Exciting new changes!

Here’s where the evolution of Mini Builders takes another step.

  1. Materials
In the past one of the biggest rules at Mini Builders was to only use the supplies gathered at Mini Builders for the challenges and builds there. We are now lifting this restriction and allowing the kids to bring supplies from home.
With the previous rule we were providing the kids with some hard to obtain supplies in their shared vault. Now that they can gather supplies from anywhere, we will no longer be providing those supplies for them.
  2. Vaults
With the ever-increasing amounts of prizes & goodies the kids receive for participating in & winning challenges, we have built an individual vault system inside our brand new Money Bin! The kids can store their prizes & supplies in their own special vault.

    MiniBuilders Money Bin

Scrooge McDuck stops by for a swim once in a while.

  3. Opening the “doors”
Have you ever wondered what Mini Builders really looks like? Now you can come for a visit! Come check out what the kids have built in competition as well as the farms and community they worked on together.
During all build competitions access will again be restricted to just the kids, the admins, & judges. We will open it back up after judging is completed for each competition.

We are excited to share this fun kids area with all for viewing and even shopping in the Mini Market. We have some exciting new build competitions lined up for the kids to occupy some of their summer hours in the near future.

All right, parents, this is a complicated one, and it is very important this is read with your children!

I have set up two farms at Mini Builders, creating a red team and a blue team. This challenge is a little like sky block but a lot more child friendly.   😉

Each farm has a starter kit, and the goal over a two week period is to farm as much as they can.  Everything they make and farm has points, and the team with the most points will win at the end.

IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ!

If your child would like to join, they must fill out the form at the bottom of this post, at which point they will receive their password. They must shout the password in the in-game chat in order to join. Then, they will have a dispenser pick their team.

After this, they will get a Command Block to their farm.

THIS IS A SPECIAL COMMAND BLOCK. NOT ONLY WILL IT TELEPORT THEM, BUT IT WILL ALSO REMOVE EVERYTHING IN THEIR INVENTORY, INCLUDING ARMOR!

It is very important that they empty their pockets before going to the farm and returning back from the farm.

FARM RULES

  • They cannot build out, but they can build up.
  • They must not destroy any clay.
  • They must not pass the password on to any other child.
  • They must not destroy the already made barn.

Remember this is a team challenge!

The winning team will either get a full set of diamond armor OR diamond tools.

The team in second will get the same in iron.

Hello all! Today we launch the first Mini-Builders Christmas-themed build!

Please read through these rules with your child(ren).

What is your Mini Builder’s favorite thing about the Holiday Season? Is it a tree lit up or lots of presents? Is it spending time in the snow with family and friends? Is it waiting for Santa to come and deliver presents?

There are 21 plot sites around a huge Christmas tree at the Mini Builders site!

For this build, there will be a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winner. First place gets a special prize from Molly360.

Rules:

Once your child arrives at Mini Builders, they MUST *WHISPER* to an admin or Shirra_Digger the password: “You’re a mean one, Mr. Enderman!”

/w shirra_digger You’re a mean one, Mr. Enderman!”

Upon acceptance of the password, your child(ren) will get to pick a plot. They will put their name on the empty sign next to the plot number.

All children will be provided with a tree to decorate. If they do not wish to decorate the tree in their plot, they are welcome to chop it down.

Your child has access to the Kids Only vault. We ask the kids not bring their own supplies but use what is at the Mini Builder site. Children must NOT take any of the supplies off site; all supplies are to only be used for Mini Builders.

There are snowmen at each gate. Do not harm the snowmen. They are there for your enjoyment and snow collection needs. If anything happens to a snowman, let Molly360 or Shirra_Digger know so he can be replaced.

Children are only allowed one plot each, and please, NO sharing plots.

Children are allowed to remove the grass in their plot but not the green wool or the red clay road.

Last rule: The same as before, this is not a race, and there will be over two weeks to complete this challenge. Starting Friday, December 20th, 2013 and ending Wednesday, January 6th, 2014. If you or your child(ren) are unclear about any of these rules, feel free to ask!

Hello all,

Today sees the launch of our second mini builders challenge.  Once again, I ask you to read through these rules with your child so they are clear on the rules.

This challenge will be a decorating challenge. We have been working all weekend building a hotel at the mini builder’s sites, and your children’s job will be to decorate a room.

This time around, there will be a total of four winners :
Best room in age group 5-10
Best room in age group 11-16
Best hallway (On each floor there are two rooms; in between the two rooms is a hallway, and a bonus prize will be given to the pair with the best hallway.

Rules:

On arrival to Mini Builders, your child MUST SHOUT the secret password which is, “What color is creeper poo?” In doing so, they will get to choose a room and must place a sign above the front door.

Your child will now have access to a kids only vault with basic supplies. As with the previous challenge, we ask for your children to NOT bring their own supplies. Mini Builders has grown a great deal, and there may be no wood in the vault, but there are axes and a tree farm.

Children must NOT take any of the supplies off site; all supplies are to only be used for Mini Builders.

Children are only allowed one room each.

They can remove and replace any cobblestone but must not remove the red brick or glass windows.

Last rule: The same as before, this is not a race, and there will be two weeks to complete this challenge.  Tt will end on December 16th.

If you or your child is unclear on anything, feel free to ask.

Mini Builders : Challenge 2
I am happy to announce the two winners of this challenge.
Congratulation to Huntersilly (Jenn) for winning the best room design and to Cat_grl (Amanda) for best lobby.

They will both be receiving a special (real life) prize from me, which should be with you in the next couple of weeks.

All of the children have a gift package for taking part; they just need to speak to an admin or Shirra to receive their gift.

xxMolly

For those who don’t know, I am the creator and Admin behind our Mini Builders challenge.

Mini builders was a simple concept; we as a server hold many games nights, but some are too late for our little ones to join in.  The solution was to create a challenge designed just for them.

One of the things I noticed when becoming an admin was how different the children play Minecraft than adults. An adult will easily set themselves goals.  “Today I will mine,” or “Today I will gather resources to build a house.” Children’s minds don’t quite work like that; they will picture a build in their mind but will not always want to spend hours collecting wood and stone to build it.  Sometimes they simply do not have the time to do this with school and homework. I also learned some children just don’t know simple crafting recipes; this sparked the creation of the GMM School, a place where any child can learn any crafting recipe.

GMM School

So the First Mini Builders challenge was born. With all I had seen and learned in mind, I set a house building challenge. The children were given a storage hut filled with supplies and a 20×20 plot to build on. What followed shocked us all. Without the hassle of collecting resources, the children could just create and build with no restraint on their creativity.

If fantastic builds were not enough, they shocked us one more time; the children, between themselves, grew their very own community in their very own corner of the server. It turned out, with a little encouragement, the children grew, planted, and mined all the resources they would need for the next challenge, and we hadn’t even confirmed there would be another.

MB's Farm

But now we are starting Challenge 2, “Interior Design.” With help from the server community, a hotel was built, and now the children each have a room to design.  We can’t wait to see what they come up with.
