OK, I think I remember how to do this

I know, it’s been forever. But hey, at least there’s plenty of stuff to talk about. Can you believe that in a couple months it will be our 7th anniversary? I should probably take down the 6th anniversary message on the server login banner. Hoo boy there’s a lot of catching up to do. Let’s get into it.

New Stuff at the Shack

Haven’t changed this up in a while so I’m giving a little love to the shack this week. We’re keeping 4 of the previous options and switching out 6 of them. Here they are:

  • Trenchez: Gives you the Trench Pickaxe, which clears a 3×3 square of (most) blocks. Like the tween cousin of Superpickaxe – $1000 SAMCoin – 24 hour cooldown between purchases
  • Earthz: One of the 4 we left up on the board. Free daily item recycler since they brick themselves so often.
  • Hoez: Gives you a Harvester Hoe. Like an auto-plant scythe. 500 uses – $1000 SAMCoin – 24 hour cooldown between purchases
  • Torchrowz: Another holdover, shoots a torch instead of an arrow, the torch sticks to whatever it hits. Useful for cave reconnaissance – $100 SAMCoin for 10 arrows
  • Clipz: Unbreakable shears with Sharpness 6 – $3000 SAMCoin because they’re basically bling
  • Servbot: If you haven’t gotten one of these yet, now you can buy them from the shack. If you do already have one, don’t try to buy a second one, that won’t work, and will probably take your money anyway – $2000 SAMCoin – One time purchase – Go here for more info on Servbot
  • TPZ: We brought back the Void Bow. Teleport yourself to wherever you shoot – $1000 SAMCoin
  • Catz: Want some cats? Here’s a couple spawn eggs for them. $500 for 2 eggs.
  • Foxes and Pandaz: Last two are holdovers, you can probably guess.

ONE MORE THING – BACK OF THE SHACK

If you go around the other side of the Serverus Shack, we have some chests set up back there. These chests are shops where you can purchase saplings for different types of new special trees. Just plant them in the ground and watch them grow. There are 14 different types, and a couple of them can only be grown on Soul Sand, so keep that in mind. These are $500 SAMCoin apiece and have limited inventory so get them while you can.

Rush Map Updated to 1.16 Snapshot

Sick of bees yet? Well we’re taking the leap to the latest snapshot, which is a pretty beefy update to the Nether. Lots of new blocks, new items, new building items, new biomes, and even a new mob. You will want to make sure that your launcher allows for snapshot installs. This is  checkbox you may need to enable under Installations in your launcher. We will be over here for this week’s episode of Minecraft Monday. You can get there using rush.smaws.me as the server address.

Side note: Spigot doesn’t have a branch for this yet, so we’re using the vanilla snapshot server jar for this, meaning that there is significant chance for lag. We’ve fixed the max player count so we can get more than 10 players on now but it might chug quite a bit if we have too many folks on. Just a heads up.

Rotten Flesh to Leather

I’ve mentioned this on occasion during the streams, but for those of you who do not watch the stream, it may be useful for you to know that you now have a use for that mountain of rotten flesh you’ve kept all these years because you are a hoarder like the rest of us.

Yes…now you can turn that flesh into genuine leather. Sure it might be 9 rotten flesh to one leather, as can be seen in the crafting image above, but what else were you going to do with it? So yeah.

Player Market & Map Gallery

The CMLs have a veritable smorgasbord of maps ready for purchase at the new gallery, located just down the road from the Command Tower, immediately after the Chicken Racetrack, take a right and go through the hill tunnels. Daedalus has asked me to relay the following notes:

  1. Food and drink must stay in the cafe area.
  2. Kaylee the receptionist llama likes a good knock knock joke.
  3. Make sure to check out the bumper boats out back. Extra credit if you can do doughnuts without hitting anything.

KismetFoxfire would like you to know that there are free item frames with each map purchased. See llama for details.

To the left of the gallery you will see a large cleared area. This is where we will have the player market. There is a form at the bottom of this article where you can put in your request for a spot and let us know what you will want to sell.  We will be using signs instead of chests for the individual player shops, so I will be installing these on a case-by-case basis once the requests have been approved.

Quick Notes

So quick. So satisfying.

Sometimes, you get an idea that is so strong, and so clear in your head, it stays with you. Every time you log into Minecraft, you see the things you want to build, but not have the resources, the time, or whatever the reason it is, real life gets in the way. I nearly went mad and lost my head, completely bonkers trying to wait until I could get this out of my brain and into the game!

Last year was like that for me. I mentioned this idea to Torimili and Serverus back in January of 2016, and then went through several physical IRL moves last year, and things in my virtual happy world were shifted to the side.

January of 2017 though, I figured I was good to go for a bit, settled into this chunk of topside, and once again pitched the idea to the dynamic server deities who make our lives perpetually [even if only virtually so!] happy and fulfilled.

Elyntia and I wandered off in search of some fun potential places to start this epic lil undertaking, and after I had logged for the night, she had come across a place that she figured might be perfect. I logged in the next day to see my very own monument. *squeal* Yes, I have been on NuNu since DAY ONE, and have memories galore of times, events, places, players, etc. I’ve helped three people with their monuments, never to claim one as my own though.

So I did it. I claimed the monument, and the moment I had planted that flag (okay, it was a sign with clumsypixie typed on it!), a surge of adrenaline filled me. THIS IS THE PLACE. THIS… this monument, was going to be so so much more.

Torimili, Elyntia, and myself (all in survival mode) decided to have our fun and cleaned out the monument over the course of a weekend (technically we started on a Thursday evening, but it was done by the Sunday night). We laughed. We had so much fun. We streamed (I think we streamed it? I know we recorded it for sure).

I came on the next day, and was given the special permission to have access to the creative (not admin) inventory, because what I had proposed was something that wasn’t going to be a miniature or quickly created entity. If you’ve ever been to any of the things I have created/co-created, you’ll know that nothing I build is ever tiny. By the end of the first week, the base was constructed, and there was so much left to do. In fact, there still IS a lot to do, but that’s where I now need to reach out and ask for helpers.

Before I go on, I really need to shine the light on those who have lent a minute or a year of Minecraft time to helping me create this vision, and see it come to fruition.

To the Server deities who allowed this crazy pixie to run amok on their server and believe in my vision: Serverus and Torimili; The geniuses behind the maps: _Ayana_ ((who also gets mad credit for helping me so many times I’ve lost count, built the rail around the 2nd floor, and gave me more encouragement than I realised I needed when I wanted to pack up and just stop)) and KismetFoxFire;

The admins, who tirelessly copied and pasted and filled and fixed and created things for everyone to someday smile at: Elyntia, GardenSavvy, and dancingn27; and The three I volunteered for the tasks and who rose to the challenge of support, creative input and implementation, and all round awesomeness: Irish_Pippin, and the amazing duo of Elfueygo and Sarindre.

I should thank my cats as well, because I worked well past their dinner, several times during the last two plus months in creating this.

And yes, everything you see here has happened since January 10, 2017. Every map, ever banner, every eye, ever track, every ceiling, every rosebush… it’s fun to watch these people come over to see the build (and help with a new area/fix something/add something) each time, and be flabbergasted at the amount of work put in.

This is a labour of love. It is something that I wanted to give to Some Awesome all along, and I hope this is the start of the desire for others to want to do EPIC builds on NuNu and create new, lasting, fun, amazing memories with old and new friends alike. I give you, your trip down the rabbit hole, into the mind of the clumsypixie, and hope that you want to stay in Wonderland so much, that it becomes a permanent “must do” thing on your Minecraft daily-do’s.

With love,

Pixie
________

P.S. I need about 5-10 people who want to work – we have areas on each level that still need to be completed, but can be easily done in survival mode – there are a couple that have some supplies to ensure that the consistency of the level is maintained, but there are four levels that do not have supplies yet. If we find there are a lot of the exact same request, we can probably easily help everyone out.

You get a special participation keepsake as well. And my undying appreciation and thanks.
________

Now, for the “rules” such as they are: Please don’t destroy what’s there. If you have an idea to fix or change something that is already in place, please message me (Sera Merrin) privately and if we’re not friends on fb, make sure to tag me in a post so I know to check my message requests.

There are six levels: I’ve utilised every single block from 1-256. Trust me; I wish it were more, especially for antennae!!

THESE ARE THE FOLLOWING REQUIRED PARTS

TOP: singing pansies, possibly Humpty, and other things to fill in the ground area. ***REDSTONE for the trap door***

Dark Forest: mushies, creatures from Alice (since this likely the only Alice build, I’m going to say you can pull from any of the stories – but if possible, try to stick with the Wonderland specific parts, rather than anything that has been altered by say Once Upon A Time television show story line), more trees, and hiding spots – there’s a special reason I’m requesting that particular goodie.

Mad’s Tea Party – THE TEA PARTY – and yes, the floor and ceilings and walls are 100% done and we just need the table and Mad Hatter and fun goodies on the table and around the area.

Flamingo Ice Rink – Two issues I should address here: one, I didn’t want a PVP area that was potentially going to hurt anyone, as we have a special PVP area (remember that awesome build we got to do last year!?) and two, there are as yet no croquet mallets, flamingos, or ways to play croquet or giant chess at the moment. So I figured we could design it like the flamingo area (but with ice and fun blocks instead) and have a snowball fight arena! There are boxes (please don’t remove them) for this level for continuity of blocks used.

Queen’s Level – There’s not much left to do here, but there are a few things. There’s a huge section under the palace that needs to be dealt with, and there are supplies available for that. The Queen, her two guards (a spade and a heart) need to be created as well, but they do not have to match the two that are at the back of the palace. Her throne needs to be constructed inside the palace, and yes, there is limited space, but I think there is more than enough room for a grand throne.

Basement – Faux doors that will give the impression of MORE options and the table and chair with EAT/DRINK/OPEN/TAKE me items.

I hope you like this trip into Wonderland!

Community builds are the best and always the most fun! We need Builders to help with a new project that promises to be a lot of fun not only during the build, but for future game nights as well.

Builders-Wanted

We’re looking for people who love to build and take a lot of pride in their work to help with an underground city on Main. We need a few big buildings (ex: a hospital, police station, schools) but also stores, office buildings, corner shops, and houses for the residential area. Anything you can think of that belongs in a major city, we want it! We need them all and we need a lot!

2016-05-09_16.03

Tools and materials will be provided in our supply “shed” so don’t worry about bringing or gathering anything (except maybe food and your armor because there are mobs down there). Players will be in survival but will have the ability to fly while in the area.

Once the city is done the area will then be used as a PvP arena! Not a fan of PvP? That’s okay, you can still help us build.

When creating your buildings remember that it’s okay for them to be dark (mob griefing is off on Main so no damage can be done by mobs) and to create hiding places too. Lincoln and I just tried it out in one of the buildings and had a lot of fun hiding in closets and basements.

2016-05-18_16.37

It’s looking good but it can be great and we need YOUR help! To become a Master Builder just sign up below with your name, IGN, and what building you think you’d like to build. Like I said we need them all, but if we do get too many of one type we may ask if you could build something different.

The build site will open this weekend starting May 28th and remain open for building until the site is done. The command block leading to the area will be team specific so you must sign up to become a builder.

Can’t wait to see what we come up with!

May the Force be with you!

Please join in the festivities and build with us on Some Awesome Minecraft! We celebrate this worldwide day of 2016-04-15_18.21.21the ever-loved Star Wars story that brings us together.

On the Main server, we will be opening up a Crash Site. You can build your favorite Star Wars ship!

To join in the building, head to Rebel Base Command which you can get to from the basement of the new CT. Head to the right and take the CB to Shipcrash.
You will port inside the Death Star, go outside and please mark the area you need to build your ship as you imagine it has crashed into the desert.

Materials will not be supplied. If you have leftovers or would like to supply materials for the builds, there is a storage floor in the top of the Death Star. You can access this room by the elevator.

Whatever ships you decided on, whether you build alone or with a partner, please stay within the Star Wars theme. (Please no pixel art at the crash site.)2016-04-15_18.20.06

We also have some other Star Wars themed builds like Mos Eisley and the Rebel Command Base where all the Star Wars builds on the server are linked. There are Some Awesome builds there that you must see!

Don’t forget to check out and try to beat the Jedi Temple! Do you have what it takes to be a Jedi?

May the Fourth be with you!

Welcome to the Mini Builders Summer 2015! Now that June has begun, we have a fun summer planed out for little ones on the server.

If you are not familiar with Mini Builders, take a look at its history. We are proud of mini builders. It is a great way for the kids to learn more about Minecraft and about each other! These kids are pretty creative.

2015-06-15_11.24.51So welcome to the inaugural Summer 2015 Mini Builders’ Build. A boat challenge.  Similar to the previous boat challenge, each builder will pick out a boat lot and make a boat out any materials they choose. The challenge will run from June 22nd-June 30th. Here are some rules you must follow:

  1. One boat plot per child
  2. Do not tamper with another mini builder’s boat, this will disqualify you.
  3. Do not explore past the Mini Builder’s area.
  4. All materials are not supplied and must be acquired. See note below for more information.
  5. Adults may visit the Mini Builder’s area but they are NOT allowed to help.

There will be some changes for Mini Builders moving forward:

  1. There is now a Mini Builder’s vault. This vault is accessible by all.  People may donate to this vault as they see fit and all materials can be used by any Mini Builder at any time.  At no time should there be requests to fill the Mini Builder vault to anyone in the community.
  2. All materials used for challenges will be acquired supplies. This means that all materials used for challenges must be obtained from mining, collecting or chosen from the Mini Builders’ Vault. As a reminder, you may not ask for the vault to be filled. Meaning, if someone was kind enough to drop off a chest of cobblestone to the Mini Builders vault, that is wonderful. But if that chest is empty, it is now time to visit the Mini Builders’ mine!
  3. Each Mini Builder will be given their own personal vault at the Mini Builders’ Bank, Gringotts! Come on down to the Mini Builder’s area to check out this great build. Ride through the deep and dark vaults to discover the mysteries of Gringotts. You will get a vault assigned to you when you sign up for the Mini Builders’ challenge below.
  4. In addition to Gringotts, there is now a Mini Builders’ garden, tree farm and animal farm. This should help fill up those vaults and keep you well fed during the challenge.
  5. We will be having some mining parties! Join us on June 18th at 6 PM CST and June 20th at 2 PM CST to mine together and for some fun mining challenges!

So, you may be asking yourself, what do I do now? If you are a mini builder, take note of the following:

  1. Sign up for the Mini Builders’ Boat Challenge below and you will be assigned a vault.
  2. Join us for the mining parties on June 18th at 6 PM CST and June 20th at 2 PM CST.
  3. Note that the boat challenge starts on June 22nd.
  4. Start gathering supplies for the boat challenge

If you are NOT a mini builder:

  1. Join us for the mining parties and consider donating the supplies you acquired to the Mini Builder’s Vault.
  2. Consider donating any of your other excess items to the donation area, on the second floor of the Mini Builder’s building.
  3. Invite your kids or your friends or your friends’ kids to join us for our first summer challenge. Send them to the server rules to get them set up and have their kids’ sign up below.

To access the Mini Builders’ area, Take the Mini Builders’ CB from the Mini Builder’s room adjacent to the Community CB room. (It’s the colorful one)

What are the prizes for the boat challenge?

1st Place: 3 enchanted books of their choosing plus a special set of diamond armor
2nd Place: 2 enchanted book books of their choosing plus a special set of iron armor
3rd Place: 1 enchanted book of their choosing plus a special set of gold armor
Every child will get a prize for participating!

Happy Minecrafting! As a reminder, please sign up with the mini builder’s IGN below, not the adult’s. This is a challenge for the children of the server and we will use the IGN as a sign up for the vault as well so it must be case sensitive. This is a fun challenge, not a speed challenge. The number one goal is to have fun and maybe make a new friend!

“Please let this be a normal field trip!”  Well anything on our server is never close to normal so sorry to disappoint, but it will not!

Those familiar with Hogwarts on Main know how useful it can be to have a crafting recipe resource in game.  It is a great place to send the little ones on the server when they are asking, “How do I … ?”.  It is time to bring that resource over onto NuNu as we prepare for summer and get ready for MiniBuilders (more information on that coming soon!).

So introducing the first of our fun community builds this summer, The Magic School Bus!  Get ready to take some adventurous field trips and make some great builds together. This build is for all to participate in, big and small.

To start, we need a bus! We have provided a bus blueprint for you guys to follow. All materials will be community provided.  To get started, head on down to the community CB room in the basement of the command tower. You will be TP-ed to the build shed where we can start gathering and sharing resources to get the bus up and running for it’s first adventure.

Please be sure to sign the participant wall when you come on down. There is nothing in the build shed right now except for a CB so come with your inventory full of materials to share.  We can’t wait to see this project come together! Beep, beep!

[UPDATE #1]

There are a few aesthetic items left to do on the school bus “to do” list however here is the first major update to the project: Creating the knowledge we can learn at the bus! The bus will be a place where we will be able to create field trips for those that are learning about Minecraft or need a reminder about how to do something.  To start, we are going to have the basic recipes and manufactured recipes at the bus. For the most part, the rest of the recipes will be a field trip away (to help with possible item frame lag). So let’s get started! The area for basic and manufactured have been started and are ready to go.

If you have a question on what recipe belongs where, here is the start of a list:

Basic Recipes

  1. Stick
  2. Chest
  3. Wood Plank
  4. Torch
  5. Crafting Table
  6. Furnace

Manufactured Recipes

  1. Wood Items
      1. Stairs
      2. Slabs
      3. Fences
      4. Fence Gates
      5. Doors
      6. Ladder
      7. Sign
  2. Bookshelf
  3. Cobblestone Items
  4. Stone Items

We will be organizing the items in a different way than in Hogwarts as they will be organized around field trips! So for example, a field trip to a flower forest could cover dyes, flower pots, and clay items.  We will keep you posted on more of these as we organize them!

Be sure to be as descriptive as you want with signs around the recipe. In addition, leave a little space if possible for room for growth as we never know what Mojang is going to throw our way!

Happy crafting!
