Earth Day 2017

Earth Day is our annual reminder to take better care of our planet. Less litter, more awareness! But in Minecraft we don’t think about it because it is after all, a virtual world.

Thanks to our friend Lisa (AmzDeoris), we decided a couple years ago to bring awareness to this world we all love so much! How do we do that? By protecting Mother Minecraft!

From the server restart at midnight April 22 until midnight April 23 you will not be able to break any natural blocks. No wood logs, no stone, no dirt, nor sand. Anything that is generated naturally you will not be able to break. It’s a fun (albeit a bit frustrating) reminder of how easy it is to take nature for granted, and maybe remind us to carry some of that consciousness back to the real world.

You may be asking, “So what will I do all day then? Remember the 3 Rs. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!

We’ve got the Reduce covered, so let’s work on Reuse. You can still build, break, and destroy crafted blocks so make that new build out of blocks you already have.

Recycle those blocks you don’t want or need anymore by donating them to your team vaults. I know those chests have been looking bare and you’ll need them for team events.

As usual, don’t forget to drop by our holiday area for your holiday souvenirs from Mother Earth, and pick up your holiday collector’s map made by _Ayana_ and KismetFoxfire from our Crazy Map Ladies! Thank you again ladies for a beautiful map!

Villager Mall

We’ve all been there, you’re completely tuned in to a build you’re working on and you run out of supplies. You can either stop to go mine more, or stop by our server market areas to put in a request for what you need. The problem is, more often than not, the player who owns the shop may not be online when you need them, or they themselves need to mine the supplies for your order which can also take time you’d rather spend building. We believe we have found the perfect solution!

Introducing the new Villager Mall!

The Villager Mall is your one stop shop for everything Minecraft! No more tagging players in the group if you need to place an order. Thanks to our recent XP bottling system you simply go to the shop you need and trade with the villager in charge.

The beauty of this project is that it’s still community based. We need you guys to pick the themes and design the shops. You will supply the materials to decorate the store and come up with the price list (although admins will help with that if you are unsure what should be charged). F or doing so the villager will be modeled after you (have your player head), and a payment of one stack of XP bottles (equals approximately 40 levels). Afterwards the shops will be completely self sufficient. You will not be supplying materials, filling orders, or collecting payments. The villager will do it all. This ensures that whenever you need something, the shop owner will be available to supply as much as you need right then!

Shops are filling up fast so get your ideas in! There is a drop box for shop themes located in the basement of the command tower. Drop your idea in the hopper for admin approval while shops are still available. We are not opposed to multiple shops selling the same item if it goes along with their theme, but duplicate items will be priced the same in each shop.

Bottling your XP is easy and the command to do so is located at the service desk in the center of the mall, and posted at various locations within.

There is also a food court available which may help you get that new advancement “A Balanced Diet”. The villagers will no longer be taking cobblestone as we have switched to the new xp system, but if you are looking to get rid of all that extra cobble the Food Truck Villagers are still happy to serve you.

Thank you everyone for all your help making this such a fun build and community project. The shops look great and the idea has been positively received by all. Great team work!

Birthdays!

You may have noticed we love holidays on our server, and birthdays are no different! Since we have so many new neighbors I thought it would be a good time to go over our birthday policy.

Our old birthday doc is so out of date we have started a new one here. All you have to do to sign up is post in the comments the month and date (mm/dd), your in-game name, your real name. If you are posting for your child comment with their IGN and your name so we know who to tag.

Ex: 11/19: ToRiMiLi – Tonya Morris
Ex: 06/07: LinkMo – (Mom: Tonya Morris)

Even if you signed up on the old doc, we will not be using it anymore so be sure to sign up again on the new one.

Now for the good part. On your birthday we will post a birthday announcement in the group, and on the server you will be gifted a backpack which is extra inventory space. It also acts as a “keep inventory” space so you won’t lose anything should you have a fatal accident in-game. What’s even better is that if you have shulker boxes you can keep them inside with all their contents which gives you even more space!

If you already have a backpack from a past birthday or special event you will receive an additional row, up to six total.

Birthday Gifts!

Inside your backpack on your birthday you will receive a set of power tools (pick and shovel breaks blocks in a 3×3 grid rather than 1×1), a special edition birthday map (different every year), a book that is good for 30XP, a wish item, and a special cake that can be used as a weapon!

 

Your wish item could be anything from the creative menu including a shulker box, or totem of undying, but you could also request an additional row for your backpack, an extra power tool, an additional set of command blocks (NEW!), or a piece of our new OP birthday armor!

And if you’re not sure what to use your book on, or you’re waiting for a special item in an upcoming update, then just hang on to it. They won’t ever expire. However they are not interchangeable so please do not try to give them to anyone else.

Valentine’s Day!

In honor of Valentine’s Day, it’s officially LOVE week on the server!

Come in and take a romantic boat ride for two down the River of Love to visit the Holiday Villager with all your last minute Valentine’s goodies to give to your sweeties. And don’t forget our other Holiday Villager who will provide you with everything you need for a romantic holiday dinner.

Visit the SAMC version of the Pont des Arts  bridge, and add your names to proclaim your eternal love and devotion.

 

And last but not least grab your holiday collector maps courtesy of _Ayana_ of the Crazy Map ladies who always do the most amazing work making these look beautiful!

They even included the Anti Valentine’s Day maps for those who say Bah Humbug to the whole thing (we know, we know, Hallmark holiday, etc etc etc…)

Okay, I know I’m totally cheesing it up here, but we really do love you guys and we just want you to know that! Thanks for being such Awesome people and making the server the best place to play every day!

Chinese New Year 2017

Here is a holiday we haven’t celebrated on the server yet, Chinese New Year! The year of the Rooster!

Saturday, January 28th marks the Chinese new year. Come celebrate with us in Minecraft style. As tradition states, we will begin the celebration on Friday, January 27th (New Year’s Eve) by opening up the holiday area which will be open for Two Weeks to celebrate the longest holiday on the Chinese calendar.

Come check out the new display in our holiday area, complete with the customary dragon dance. Be sure to visit our Lucky Items holiday villager, ESPECIALLY if you were born during the Year of the Rooster, for everything you need to bring about good luck and fortune for the new year!

What is my Chinese zodiac?

Don’t forget to talk to villager “Elyntia” for traditional fireworks. Set off 3 smaller fireworks to “sound out” the old year, and 3 bigger ones to “sound in” the new year! The louder the fireworks, the better and luckier your upcoming year will be!

It is believed that praying in a Prayer Temple will bring about a smooth coming year.

Enjoy the traditional “Reunion Dinner” at our sushi bar. Enjoy the keepsakes!

Don’t forget to get your copy of our holiday collector’s map courtesy of our Crazy Map Ladies. They have done especially beautiful work this round! It was this map and its creator _Ayana_ who inspired the celebration of this holiday event.

Seasons Greetings!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year on the server, ChristmaHanukKwanzzicule time! Come celebrate with us!

We have a lot going on in the holiday area as some of you may have seen. It is now open for you to explore and enjoy.

Christmas: Dec 25

Visit Santa’s workshop for goodies, numerous Christmas banners, and our holiday collectors map. Don’t forget to go see villager “ToRiMiLi” to hang your stocking around the fireplace. Turn them in to an admin between December 26th and January 7th to trade for a gift item from either the creative menu, power tools, or an animal of your choice including polar bears and llamas!

Note: Stockings must be named and only one per person. You may not turn them in for someone else unless you are the parent. 

Hanukkah: Dec 24 – Jan 1

Happy Hanukkah! Celebrate the eight days of Hanukkah with us as we start lighting the menorah at 9pm on Saturday, December 24th through Sunday, January 1st.

Be sure to visit the nearby holiday villagers for your holiday goodies, Hanukkah collectors map, and banner.

Note: Day 4: Gifts good for 50xp. Turn in to an admin to redeem. Only one per person. 

Yule: Dec 21 – Jan 1

Let us celebrate with you as we greet the sun after the longest night of the year. Come visit our Yule display to collect your holiday goodies, map, and banners.

Kwanzaa: Dec 26 – Jan 1

“Repairing, Renewing and Remaking Our World”

Happy Kwanzaa! We will be lighting the candles on the kinara at 9pm on Dec 26th immediately following the candle lighting on the menorah. Visit holiday villagers for the Kwanzaa collectors map and holiday banners, plus traditional holiday goodies Minecraft style including Zawadi which means “Gifts” You may trade this book in to an admin for one gift item from the creative menu, power tools, or animals including polar bears and llamas.

Note: Only one per person. Rename and turn in to an admin to collect your gift.

I’d like to take a moment to thank everyone who has helped with our holiday display. Thank you to the admins who continue to do amazing work and continue to inspire me.

A special thank you to _Ayana_ and the Crazy Map Ladies who have done beautiful work on all the holiday maps this year. I really overworked them, especially with these last 4 maps for the season. They have blown me away with their creativity and perseverance. Thank you all!

And to our players. It has been a crazy year for us all, but we’re still here! Thank you for your patience and understanding when life gets busy for us admins, and for your continued support of our great servers! We wouldn’t be here if not for you. We wish you the happiest holidays!
